FOOD STAMPS & GOVERNMENT SHOWDOWNS: A Rant On Dependency, Media Spin, And Life In The Philippines
We call out shutdown theater, SNAP panic, and media spin while arguing for personal resilience over permanent dependency. Between political takes, we share All Souls Day in the Philippines and what genuine life looks like when the cameras are off.
• purpose of welfare as a short bridge not a lifestyle
• All Souls Day prep, family plots, and making do with a generator
• why shutdown blame games hurt people first, not parties
• headlines versus reality and how to verify claims
• authenticity as currency: Rogan’s draw and Hollywood fatigue
• Star Wars nostalgia and why old hits beat new content
• planning beyond benefits and building fallback income
• urging listeners to think, prepare, and demand honesty
Again, thanks for hanging out with me!

You are listening to the Objective Jerk and I am said jerk. How's everybody doing? Hope you're all good. I know not everybody is apparently. Got people freaking out about their food stamps or their snap benefits. Why'd they change the name of it? Because there's a stigma to it. You know, I remember it used to be like those little stamps, and you had to pull them out and do whatever. And then I think they were kind of checks, if I'm not mistaken. And then they became debit cards. So then that way you don't, it doesn't, you know, people don't notice it. It's like if it's such a freaking, you know, if it's so demoralizing and all this kind of get off of it, you know. You got these people that just live off of it their whole entire lives. It's meant as a temporary, you know, whatever to help sustain you until you can get another job or whatever, but people just milk, you know, and they're all they're all Democrats. Are there Republicans that do it? They say they're Republican, but anyway, so what's up, what's up, what's up with me. So we got the All Souls Day coming up again, which is kind of cool. I've talked about before. I had like a whole episode of my podcast, so I'm not gonna go into it too much again. But you know, been the cool thing is is like this is a year when everybody goes to the cemetery. I need to if you wanna if you wanna see some some video of the cemetery, maybe that'd be kind of I'm gonna turn it into one of those cemetery YouTube channels. Not really, but you know, just to kind of it it it's it's pretty cool. It's kind of cool looking. People that maybe that are interested in that kind of stuff, let me know. I'll take some video of the cemeteries here to give you an idea. I'll put that on my my what do you call it? What's the thing where you pay money to get extra stuff? But I can't, you know, I think about that. I mean, not that right now no one would do it. I know that. Okay, I'm you know, I'm a realist, okay, I get it. But I think like if, you know, if more and more people do listen or watch, I guess, and they're like, hey man, why don't you show us some of your life there in the Philippines and you could you know put it on what is it called? So it's like people would pay like you know three dollars a month or something to get extra extra stuff, you know. I don't think I could do it though. It's like I don't I don't know. I'm not the type of person to really record a lot of stuff. I mean, I guess maybe if it was if people were asking and then I I did the whole thing and then people were paying, I'm like, oh crap, I got to. I mean, I would a little bit, but I'd be kind of picky with what I show though. I don't I'm kind of I'm not an open book, you know. I'm uh I'm a private kind of individual, so I don't know how well that would work. But anyway, it's kind of cool. And this time of the year, you know, everybody's like cleaning up their their plots, their family plots, or their family members, and they're painting and doing whatever. So we had some work done, and I filled in some grout and the tiles and stuff in the little area, you know, did some of that, and then I sanded and restained a wooden bench that's always there, things like that. So it's kind of cool, you know. And then on Also's Day, which is the first, I think, or something like that. You know, that's when everybody hangs out at the cemetery all day, and so still don't have electricity put in. A lot of people don't. Most people don't. There are some that have electricity going right into the to the little mausoleum that they have built or whatever. See, it's kind of hard to explain. I do I should take some video, but so we have this little generator that we we bring, but yeah, I'm kind of I wanna I really do want to get electricity set up because I we're looking to probably buy some areas around it for my parents to put them in, and then for you know, future for myself and stuff, you know. But anyway, so that's kind of what's going on. I was when I was getting ready for the to do the podcast, I have obviously the audio, and then I have the video part that I do, and so I you know, as I opened it up, I can always see the previous podcast that I recorded, and I saw that I was wearing the same shirt that I wore a week ago, or what you know what I mean. So I was like, oh man, so you know, I had to change the shirt because I didn't want to I gotta keep it different, you know. And then so I put this shirt on, which my wife hates because it's just falling apart, there's holes all over it, but it's comfy. So yeah, see, I care, I care. I think that's kind of it with me, right? That's all I've got going on. Anyway, so yeah, right. So you got the you got snap benefits, snap ocalypse, right, is what they're calling it. The government shutdown. I the government shutdown thing is always it's always been BS. You know, that's both sides like threatening, playing chicken, oh we're gonna do this if you know, yeah, yeah, yeah. And they're always trying to they're both to blame, really. I think this time though, it's a little more obvious that the Democrats are the ones that are the biggest, you know, opponent, I guess, at this time. You know, it's well, I mean, I don't know, if you see some of the it's the Democrats' fault, usually. Because the Democrats, they can't do nothing. And that's blatantly obvious within the last few years. They cannot do they they can't have a successful anything. You know, I mean, look at look at all the liberal ran states and everything. It's it's atrocious, you know. So Democrats live off the Republican teat, man. That's just how it is. They, you know, it's I've always said, you know, you gotta have some Democrats, you know, they help balance it out a little bit. But right now, man, that they're Democrats are I've been saying it for a year now, over a year, that the Democrats are done. They're gonna have to rebrand. And I think this is it's gonna be, especially when Vance wins and everything, like all the states are flipping. They're gonna be like, okay, we gotta reset. They're gonna do a hard reset. Because like I said, you know, these government shutdowns is always it's it's people playing with our, you know, it's just the government toying with the citizens' lives. And it's all for BS clout money, it's so they can get richer in in the end. That's the what it is, because then they'll get more money, excuse me. But it's always political football, uh, that you know, like they say, it's just it's always the same thing. But it's usually the Republicans that are always like getting the blame for it. And you know, are they to blame for some of it? Yeah. But most of the time, though, it's always because some stupid democratic crap. And but this time though, people are people are they're paying attention, you know. Before, I think people are starting to well, either they're watching the more conservative pundits or whatever, but instead of watching like C SPAN and seeing the the votes to see who was actually voting for what and whatever, people just went off the headlines of the BS that you know the the mainstream media would put out. Oh, Democrats are oh well, okay. Well, I guess if the news is saying that, then it must be, you know, whatever. And again, it's both sides and everything. But people, I think people are starting to really kind of pay attention to what's actually going on and not believe in the BS that's you know being and is the proof is like CNN tanking, you know, nobody watches CNN just going down, and the only things that are keeping CNN afloat are like the conservative individuals that are on the you know, the little what's it I can't think of his name right now, but who just constantly beating the crap out of all the the Democrats talking points and uh what's his name? But you know, when they have the little table discussions and stuff, and and then you have the guy that's doing the numbers and the stats and the polls, and he's all he's all excited and everything. Like, I don't yeah, I don't know. Like they're I'm pretty sure that like liberals don't like them. If I think yes, but they're the only thing that kind of because they're just genuine, you know, really. That's the biggest thing is like people are always, you know, a lot of the Democrats, it's all bullshit, they're all fake. They say one thing, they do another, yet politicians across the board are are this way, you know. But more so now with the Democrats, or it's just I don't know, maybe it's because you know, I talk about, you know, I'm always like, oh, you know, you need to open your eyes and you need to look. People are starting to notice. You know, I can't really, I've only been a little bit open to it, well, within the last five years. You know, the whole with the the COVID shutdown and what politicians were saying on both sides, and then how they flipped, and this, I was just like, what the crap? That's when I really kind of noticed, you know what I mean? So I'm you know, I'm not I'm not an expert who's been who's been on it since day one or anything like that. But but it's oh what was I saying? Democrats, they lie. Oh, so they're just they're just they're they're disingenuous. You know, that's why Joe Rogan is popular. Like what like what is Joe Rogan, you know? I mean, it's not he has access to it the the It's because he's genuine, okay? He's just a normal guy talking. Does he know everything? No, does he get things wrong? Yes, all the time. But he brings people on and he has discussions, he doesn't want to have like arguments all the time, you know what I mean? So he's not always trying to find somebody to have a debate with, he just wants to have a conversation and ask questions, you know. Sometimes they turn into debates, you know, but so that's why, you know, and like Gavin Newsome, I wasn't planning on talking about this, but so Gavin Newsom, who they're still talking about him running for president, like dude, I hope he does, because he it well, I don't know. If he does, then it makes me think that they have a surefire way to cheat because nobody likes this douche. And he is the epitome of a slime ball salesman, you know what I mean? Like, you saw during the fires when he was confronted, he's like, I'm on the phone with right now. Well, I'll call them. You know, like he he gets he gets caught in lines like all the time, and he just oh well, you know, uh uh and people just still oh he felt great. But he like he wants to be on Rogan. He he totally does. But Rogan now, like he would have a while ago. He said that he's like, I would have had him on, but now like because you know he's talking a bunch of shit, so now he's like nah, screw you, whatever. Cause but it's because Gavin Newsom is he's he is not the person that you see on TV and in public. He is not that person. And most Democrats are the same, they are not genuine, and that's what's really hurting the Democrat Party, if you boil it down. I mean, yeah, you could, you know, sin, you know, demons, God, and all that stuff, yes, of course, is always involved. But I mean, what's making the Democrats not genuine? It's like, you know, their sinful nature. But it's just that's what it is, just being genuine, you know. I mean, you can be Christ-like and not believe in Christ, you know. There are people who are just good people who don't believe that stuff, but they try and do, you know, good and I and I f I believe that they're still influenced by the Holy Spirit. You know, that's the Holy Spirit. They don't know why, but that doesn't seem right. I'm not gonna do it, you know. But man, the Democrats are just they're a joke now. They're cra and so be with this government shutdown, which they'll they'll at the last minute it's gonna get they're gonna approve it. Because they know if they don't, it's gonna get even worse. See, they're trying to see how it is. So right now it's looking bad for Democrats. So now it might go through here the day before or something. I don't know if it'll wait, if it'll go to the last second. It seems like that's what they do. They sit there and like, oh, okay, we're gonna do this, and they try and finagle headlines and do whatever and get some word out and see where the ball's going, or not the ball, but see where the wind is going. And then right now it's you know, it's not looking good for the Democrats. So I kind of have a feeling that they're gonna, okay, let's let's okay this before we look too bad. Because they are looking bad, you know. And then all these people who are on food stamps, I'm not gonna call it snap, it's stupid. They're all getting pissed off because they're not gonna be able to buy food for Thanksgiving and all this kind of and I, you know, I do feel bad for the people who really do need it. You know, I I grew up pretty poor, not as poor as some people, but I primarily grew up I had a my father, he was pretty well-to-do, he had a good job, but he was remarried, and I had my stepbrother, and we lived separate. I did live okay, I'm not gonna go too much into it, but for the most part, I lived with my mom and my sister. So when I was really little, she was married to my stepdad, and then they they divorced and we moved to Washington. And real quick, a little side story though, because I just I have I follow like a He-Man page on Facebook, and somebody had found this old He-Man toy at a garage sale or something, right? And it's the I forget what you call it, but it was this thing that would just slide and then spin around so like it could go over ledges and stuff like that. That's kind of how it was, you know, sold as. And I got it for my birthday, and I was so excited with it, and then not long, like right after that, we moved. Like my mom, we grabbed our personal stuff, we had a couple suitcases, and we were put on a bus and we went to Washington where her my grandparents were, and while she stayed there to finish up whatever, and then she came up later, right? Well, I in that move or whatever, I completely forgot about that He-Man toy, and I remember where I left it, and I was so butthurt. But it's like, you know, I it wasn't easy to call or ask, you know, when you ask, Oh, hey, can I call my mom to get the thing? Oh, I'm sure she'll get it. Don't worry. You know, this it's not like today where your kids can like, hey, I left my thing and text, you know, can you make sure you get it? Yeah, there's none of that. So it was just I had to hope. And, you know, she forgot or whatever, so I never saw it again. And that really, that really like ate at me for a while, you know, because I didn't really get to play with it. Like it was the next day or the day after or something, because I remember it was like, I don't know, it was it was it was lame. But so I saw somebody that had that post and I kind of shared that. But anyway, so that's how I kind of grew up. And my mom, you know, we struggled, but we had some family that would help. And she, you know, she wasn't she didn't work as in a professional kind of whatever, but she she did seem to get jobs that paid just enough to not qualify. I mean, I could be wrong. Um, we might have gotten like food stamps at some point in time, you know, because you know, when you're younger, you don't pay attention to that crap. But I don't I really don't rem I don't think and if it was, it was just temporary, you know. So I mean, so I get it, you know, some people they need the help, and but you have people that that's what they do. They just they file for unemployment, they pretend like they're looking for a job, they get unemployment checks, they get you know, they get their their food stamps, they keep having kids because the more kids they have, the more money they get, and that's how they live. And that's that's not cool. Gluttony, man. It's a sin. But it's just you know, it's and that's what the Democrats want. That th those are the people they want. The people that have to to depend on the government, you know? And you have these individuals that are like they're I mean, some of these people on social media, you know, they're just doing, you know, so much crap on social media is actually fake. It's just people know that they're gonna get a reaction out of people, so they're gonna post stuff, you know. I mean, it's all the time. And so are a lot of these posts that kind of whatever? Probably, yes, absolutely. But there are some that you can tell that are like legit. But yeah, they're just talking about stealing this, go steal that, and bragging about their you know how they they live off that the government teat, you know. And now they're talking about they're gonna on the first, I guess, when when you know, when the food stamp money is supposed to get into the bank and it doesn't, they're all gonna go into Walmarts and whatever and start robbing and stealing and all this crap. So what do you think's gonna happen like when look at what's happening just with this crap that's going on right now? Imagine one of those solar it's not called the solar thing. I talked about before, I always forget what it's called. But what if something happens to where it wipes out, you know, internet and satellites and stuff for you know, just a month or two months or something like that. It's gonna go back to the stone age real quick. And you see all these people how they're just they're gonna be like zombies, man, because they're not gonna have they're not gonna get all the benefits from the government. And they're gonna they're gonna start attacking people, ransacking, go it's gonna be World War Z, but instead of zombies, it's just you know, liberal douchebags that don't work. The good thing though, I mean see that's the problem, is like they they just they let nobody should be on there for more than, you know. They need to like, if you're on it for like a year, you should not be able to, like, for six months. Like you can be on it for a year, and then you have to not be on it for like six months. So it forces people to get a job, and then maybe they'll okay, yeah, job's better. I ain't doing this crap. I don't know, you know, I don't know what what's the best way to fix it. It's nice to have assistance when needed, but it's just man, people abuse it so much. But the nice thing about all this though is you have these people who who are the genuine people, not the people rage baiting, but the people who are living off of the teat, but then you know, hopefully this they'll realize, like, man, dude, you know what? What if the government shut down for like six months or a year or something? What am I gonna do? I am screwed. I need to get a job. You know what I mean? I'm hoping that that is an outcome that people start realizing that you can't rely on the government, you know? You can't. You never know. You just never know. You know, like I I get money from the army, the VA, and disability and all that kind of stuff. But it's it's not guaranteed, you know. It's not who knows, maybe something's gonna happen, and then that that will stop. You know? So that's why it's like, you know, we're over here trying to, you know, my wife is going to culinary school and and certain things just to have some stuff set up, different business ventures and everything, so that well, for one, if I, you know, keel over from taking the jab or whatever, you know, she's okay. Or if for some reason the government's like, hey, we're not gonna be able to pay you for like six months, sorry. You know, or whatever, I don't know. That's gonna be bad. I mean, that's when things are getting really bad when they can't pay, you know, veterans, then you know it's gonna be pretty bad, but but it is a possibility, you know, and I think about it all the time. What was I talking about? So yeah, it's just you know, I again I think it's all gonna be BS. I think I think just like it does every time that it's gonna it's gonna they're gonna wait till the last minute or whatever. But I don't know, like I said, maybe because the Democrats are not looking too good that they might they might approve it, you know, and the government shut down will and we'll see. But yeah, it's just it's just kind of annoying. But I'm glad to see that people are starting to really pay attention to what's really going on and not just buying the the headlines, you know what I mean? Because it's just, you know, like what was I was watching I don't know, I was watching a YouTuber and he was talking about what was it? Oh, it was Star Wars. Oh, that's right, and it was about uh the guy that played Cal Rissian in the original Star Wars films, right? So the title basically says that he, you know, had to deal with racism. They're trying to because I'm kind of going off topic here, I guess, but you know racism was basically done and over in the early 2000s. And then Obama gets into office and it just entertainment and everything just went downhill. There's a great video by that guy with the beard on on dang it, what's it called? The date no it's with um the Jewish guy. I don't watch him. Anyway, he this guy's he's a little he's a fuddy duddy kind of guy, but this this thing he's talking about with like film and everything, just how you know 2000 yeah, right when Obama came in, like everything just went to crap. And he you know, he points out stuff and he's he's right, you know. So it's like what is it? But it it just does kind of seem like they're like, dude, nobody's racist anymore, we gotta bring it back. Why was I talking about oh that's right, okay, so you know, so you have all the crap so okay Disney Star Wars, right? Okay, I was again I'm not a fanboy, but I grew up on Star Wars and I love Star Wars. And then when the when the the what do they call it sequel trilogy came out, I was excited too, you know? See the Luminum Falcon, you see, you see Han Solo and Chewy are like, oh dude, this is gonna be awesome, right? And you know that Luke Skywalker and everybody that was in the original are gonna, you know, they were cast or whatever. And I took my oldest son to see it, and the the movies were always out around his birthday, so we were able to go for his birthday. That's what we did. You know, we'd go watch a Star Wars movie for you know, like three, four years in a row, whatever. Because I think we saw Rogue One too, or Rogue One as well, anyway. So, you know, the first one, dude, I I was all giddy and uh, you know, nostalgia, and I was like, oh dude, I didn't mind the Rey character. At this time, I didn't really, the whole Mary Sue thing was not on my radar. I wasn't, you know, I mean, I remember thinking, like, what, how does she, how can she do that stuff? Like, I thought there would be more to it. Like, it was kind of cool, but then it's like, how does she just know? You know what I mean? Like, it didn't make sense. Like, part of, you know, like part of me was like, oh, that's kind of cool, she thought it was funny, whatever, blah, blah, blah. But then it's like, yeah, but how, you know, so you know, I thought they were gonna go more into it. They were gonna, they were gonna, you know, talk about why, but it was just because she's a female and she's awesome, you know, is what it ended up being. But I remember seeing the Millennium Falcon, you know, when they're like, oh crap, their shit blew up, let's go take that one, and it shows it. It was like, oh dude, I mean, I didn't go like, yeah, but you know, I was like, oh dude, there it is. You know, I was excited, I was. My son enjoyed it. We went to, you know, the other ones, and each time it was like I was a little less impressed. You know what I mean? There were some cool scenes in the second one, which I guess got a lot of hate. That's when like things started kind of coming about, I guess. I I was not on it, I was not hip to it, but from what I do know now, that that's when everybody started like, what is going on? This is retarded. Last Jedi, right? Like the Snook character, who I thought was like it was cool because he was new and he was creepy and mysterious, and then they kill him. I was like, What? Why? And then there were some cool parts, but it was just like, I don't know. It was like okay, and then the last one was just like, What the what? It was just I don't know. You know, I didn't hate it, but I just remember leaving the theater, and I haven't watched them again, I've only seen them one time, so that's kind of how I rate movies, you know, is how many times I'll watch it, if I'll own it, and then you know, that's kind of how I rate it. So it's like either a one-time watch, I'll buy it, and then you know, maybe I'll watch it, you know, once a year kind of thingy, or something like that, you know. I don't go to the theaters anymore, really. But anyway, the point is the sequels suck. Disney sucks. All the crap they put out sucks, and they're always trying to blame it, like, oh, the fans are racist and misogynist and blah blah blah. And we're like, dude, look at the originals. You had black folk, I mean, it wasn't like a bunch of them, but Cal Ristian, you had Leia, she was badass, everybody loved her, even Padame and Mace Windu, you know. So you had beloved characters, so their argument is is retarded. So, what they do is they put out these these articles, these BS articles, trying to make it look like, oh yeah, people were, you guys were racist back then. And so the actor who I can't think of his name right now, but that played Cal Riskin, he said at the time when Empire came out, and you know how he betrayed Han and everything, people in public and they were so mad at him and this and that, and blah, blah, blah. But there was never any kind of racism. He said it may have been a black and white thing, but he didn't, you know, it wasn't concrete. He's like, maybe it was a black and white thing. I don't know. That's like what he said. But in the title of the article, they're like, oh, we dealt with racism. That is the BS crap that happens in everything. So it's not just in the little stupid Disney or Lucas film Star Wars World or whatever. It's it's it's it's it's in everything, it's politics and everything. So it's like they put these headlines out, and most people don't even read the article, they just see the headline. Oh my god. And I don't know. It's so it's like but people are catching on. It's it's they're starting to see how much crap you are fed by the media and uh and everything, you know, and how it all kind of comes together, and it's just like but so this is I don't know, this is you know, it's a shitty time, sort of, but I think it's it's gonna be for the best. I think people are waking up. I say that every time, you know, but they are kind of starting to wake up, you know. But it's what's kind of crazy, I guess, before I before I end it. So yeah, Hollywood is sucking, right? Hollywood is done. Like it is crumbling, it's not making money. I feel bad for people that own movie theaters. But then so what they're doing is they're re releasing the classic Sawshank Redemption, right? And like these. Those movies are making more money. Movies that people have seen hundreds of times. Like I would be, I mean, if I was in the States, I'd probably I wouldn't mind going, like, take my kids go to the theater and watch Shawshank Redemption again. Because I didn't get to see it in theaters. I mean, I was, you know, around or whatever, but I just I didn't know about it then. I didn't know about it until later. Like most people, because it flopped. But, you know, the movies that I love, they're getting re-released. I would love to go to the theater and watch them again, you know. And these movies are making more than the new junk that is out. And then on top of that, you have Limp Bizkit, who I'm a fan. I mean, part of it is because their bassist died, and then I guess some of it is their song is on the new Battlefield game or something. But it's like number one on Billboard. And it's a song that was released over 20 years ago, you know, like 26 years ago. Yeah. And it's like number one on Billboard. You know what I mean? So it's like nothing today is is worth anything. It's all crap. Nobody's gonna remember this decade, you know. 2010 to 2030 is gonna be nothing. Hopefully. Hopefully, it gets better. But as of right now, it's like nobody cares. Nobody cares about the music. It's all crap. It all sucks. All the shows, all the films, you know, and that's why people and they don't get it. That's why like the younger generation, they don't watch the movies, they watch people doing playing video games and crap on YouTube or something, you know what I mean? Because, yeah, some of that is people overacting, but it's a little more genuine. You know, here we are, back with the word genuine, you know. And then when my son, my middle son, when he does want to watch something, it's always something older. Like he'll see some clips and he's like, what is that? He keeps seeing clips and he kind of wants to watch it like Fight Club or whatever, you know what I mean? So it's like and but it all kind of it's all it's all it's all a big pot, you know, and that's just part of it. And then you got all the stupid BS with the the politics. So it's like it kind of seems like maybe the younger generation is a little more they can see some like my kids can see some bullshit. The gen millennial or whatever, I don't know, the generation before, they're the fucking retards, man. Oh, I said it. I try and say not say the F-word, but I say it at least once, I think every podcast. But they're the idiots, man. They're the ones, you know, if you're you know, 25 to 35 or something, you're a moron. I'm sorry, if you listen to me, I'm sorry. Not all of you, but but they're the ones that are just like ruining everything. Well, not really, because you have some I don't know, what is it? Because you got a lot of it too people are my age, though. That's the thing, though. It's like a lot of these CEOs, you know, the person that the lady who was in charge of the Louvre with the when they had all the jewelry stolen, she was like my age. I don't know, but it's not necessarily, I guess, generational. I mean, it's kind of there is there are some things that are generational, but I mean, like with that lady, she just was an idiot, you know? It's be it's the whole DEI thing. I mean, it's not just one thing, you know, woke, DEI, the entertainment. I don't know, it's not just one thing, it's just everything. But like, why is it that everything just really sucks right now? Ask yourself that. Let me know. Alright. That's it. I'm not talking about like well, never mind. Oh, see, I was ending it good and then I screwed it up. Anyway, thanks for hanging out. Appreciate your time. Let me know. God bless. Alright, bye.
